The health of cows is a key factor in the profitability of a dairy farm herd. In order to produce high quality milk and maintain high reproduction rates, cows must be in excellent health condition.

Lameness and other diseases of the limbs in cattle reduce milk production and require expensive veterinary treatment, which ultimately leads to financial losses that can turn a profitable diary farm into a loss-making enterprise.

Hoof experts believe that the damage caused by lameness is reflected in a decrease in milk production with a loss of 300-450 kg of milk per cow over a period of 305 days, an increase in the service period by 36-50 days and a 1.45 – fold increase in the risk of culling or death of the animal.

The National Union of Hoof Handlers is a membership-based, corporate, non-profit organization.

The mission of the Union is to promote advanced hoof care for cattle, aimed at creating a healthy herd of dairy cows and increasing their useful life on the dairy farm, real life expectancy with productive utility.

We do this by ensuring that our hoof handlers are of the highest category, fully qualified, constantly undergoing testing and advanced training.

Our hoof handlers are working in accordance with the best possible standards to ensure the health and welfare of your cattle.

We know that if a cow is lame, its milk production will decrease, which will affect your profits.

Chairman of the National Union of Hoof Handlers

The Chairman of the National Union of Hoof Handlers is Timofeev Yurii Alexandrovich. He started his career at the Cheboksary Tractor Plant after graduating with honors from the Cheboksary Power Engineering College.

After serving in the army, he worked as an electrician and as an inspector for the Energy Supervision Department. While still working, he completed his studies at the Chuvash State University named after I.N. Ulyanov. Yurii Alexandrovich worked as an engineer and a senior engineer for the Territorial Construction Association of the Chuvash Republic.

Since 1995, his activities have been closely related to the agricultural sector of the republic. He has worked as the General Director of the Agro-Industrial Union, the Head of the Department of the Ministry of Agriculture of Chuvash Republic, and the Head of the Republican Information and Consulting Service for the Agro-Industrial Complex «ARIS».

In 1999, he received additional training at the Danish Agricultural Consulting Center, where he studied the program for training specialists in agricultural advisory services. He also completed the program for training specialists in market information services and agricultural analysts at the University of Hohenheim in Germany, as well as the program for developing information and consulting services for agricultural producers in Russia at the Russian Academy of Personnel Support for the Agro-Industrial Complex.

Under his direct supervision, the information and communication network Agricultural Russian Information System was established in the region, laying the foundation for the further development of information, analytical, and consulting support for the republic's agricultural sector.

Graduate of the Volga-Vyatka Academy of Public Service under the President of the Russian Federation (2000).
Deputy of the Supreme Council of the Chuvash Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic of the 12th convocation (1990-1994).
Head of a peasant farm.
Director of Timofeev+) LLC.
Hobbies: shooting, mountain tourism.

Timofeev's achievements have been recognized with government awards:

Certificate of Merit from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Chuvash Republic (2011)
Certificate of Merit from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation (2004)
Commendation from the President of the Chuvash Republic (2003)
Certificate of Merit from the Presidium of the State Council of the Chuvash Republic (1999)
